The Voyager Guide to Tokyo Sushi is a location based guide to some of the best Sushi restaurants in Tokyo (and the world).
The app shows the user their relative location to each of the premier sushi restaurants in the city. Tokyos restaurants have by far the largest number of Michelin rated restaurants in the world.
Each restaurant has a description with a live map to the location as well as a YouTube video about the restaurant. Not everyone has a YouTube video - so we just added relevant content for those.
A total of 12 Tokyo restaurants gained the highest three-star rating, one fewer than last year, and 227 restaurants in the city had at least one star, up from 217 a year earlier. That puts Tokyo far ahead of No. 2 Kyoto, where 96 restaurants have one Michelin star or more, and No. 3 Paris with 92.
Several of the 3-star rated restaurants are sushi restaurants, and you will find them here. We did about twenty of the top rated restaurants, including Sukiyabashi Jiro, Ishikawa, Kohaku, Sushi Saito and Amamoto, to name a few.
Tokyo is a big confusing city with 14MM residents - this can help. Most of the best restaurants require reservations, and some are very demanding, and get mad if you are late.
The Michelin guideās high ratings of Tokyo restaurants have helped fuel a tourism boom. The number of foreign tourists visiting Japan topped 20 million this year for the first time, and they spend more than $30 billion a year, according to government figures.
Let us know what you think and if we missed any restaurants that deserve mention.
